Synopsis: A "Robber Baron" and his gang steal from anyone passing through the Forest Perilous. Sir Edwin hides his jewels on Lady Celia's mule, unknown to her. Squire Brian overhears and dons his Silent Knight guise. With the aid of Slasher the hawk, he finds the hidden castle, scales the vines, beats down the robbers, and escapes with Lady Celia and the jewels. But she's seen his "flashing eyes" somewhere, and wonders...

Synopsis: At the winter festival, Jon the Viking Prince would dance with Gunnda, but Toke the Red-Bearded claims a dance. The competitors shall accomplish three feats. First they scale a mountain to fetch a tern's egg, but Jon is pushed into the ocean and battles a giant sea otter. In a ski race, he's buried under snow, but uses Gunnda's cloak as a sail and wins. Finally the two battle tied to a tall pole, swinging and chopping with axes. Jon swings high and cuts Toke down - winning a dance with the fair Gunnda.

Synopsis: Crafty Cinna, who would assassinate the Emperor of Rome, goads a collector of golden treasures to ambush the Golden Gladiator with nets in the forest. Marcus must fight in a secret arena, for Lucia, Cinna's niece, is threatened. Marcus fights a chariot with a broken sword, dumps the horses, seizes the chariot, and thunders away with Lucia in his arms! She tells him, "If I wanted a calm life, my darling, I would have fallen in love with a poet - not a gladiator!"
