Title: Cave-Man Menace

Characters: Midnight [Dave Clark]; Gabby (a monkey); Doc Mortimer Wackey; Sir Squinchworth; Lady Squinchworth; Zor the Caveman; Two-Face (villain)(see notes below)

Synopsis: Sir Squinchworth brings back his latest discovery from Siberia, a living caveman. Midnight assists the mis-treated Zor, and helps him escape from the Dingling Brothah's Circus, where he discovers additional sad homemade freaks.

Notes: A villain named Two-Face sends a letter at the very end of this story challenging Midnight to a fight to the death, having made a big enough name for himself that even Midnight claims to have heard of him. NOTE: This is as far as the villain got. His actual appearance and the fight was slated for the next issue, but another creator worked on the strip after this and the story was not continued. Inker revision from Cole to DiPreta by Craig Delich 2013-6-16, per Jim Amash in Quality Companion.

Notes: Originally credited "Rudy Palais ?", but Palais has a very marked line from the eye down the cheek in sideview and also a peculiar blot as nostril not connected to the wing of the nose. Not him here. The art is identical to William's other credited stories in this feature, #40 and #41, and his signed "Eagle Evans" story in Police Comics #1. Most faces in nearly frontview with only one ear showing, and very large rounded jaw and chin are special.
