Title: The Crooked Road to Romance

Characters: Naomi Phillips; Mr. Phillips; Mrs. Phillips; Buzz Donnelly; Rod Emerson

Synopsis: Naomi is angry because her family is poor. Buzz sees her steal a dress but doesn’t turn her in. In fact, he takes her to the prom. Buzz is a criminal, but vows to go straight if Naomi helps him for a month so they can amass enough cash to marry. Naomi is caught, arrested and sent to prison for 2 years. When she’s released, Buzz orders her to work for Rod, who knows the secret location of a plutonium mine. Naomi and Rod fall in love, and she discovers Buzz has just been using her to get the mine's location. Naomi helps Rod defeat the crooks and they will be married.

Synopsis: Bored with her small-town life, Ellen agrees to join circus aerialist Duke’s act. Press agent Roy knows Duke is just using her, but Ellen is in love with Duke. Duke convinces Ellen to undertake a dangerous stunt and she breaks her leg. Duke and the circus leave Ellen behind, but Roy quits his job to take care of her. Ellen realises Roy is the man for her.

Synopsis: After dating unfaithful Mark and cowardly Jim, Beth loses her faith in men, stops dating, and moves to New York. She buys a matrimonial bureau, first disguising herself as a “plain Jane.” Wealthy Glenn becomes a client, warning her that he doesn’t want a “fortune-hunter.” Beth re-glamourises herself and fills in on a date with Glenn. She falls in love with him but he thinks she’s after his money. Glenn loses his fortune, then admits he knew it was Beth all the time, and they will marry.

Synopsis: Alicia has a morbid fear of men; she takes a job as secretary-companion to an elderly invalid woman. When the woman’s son Earl makes a pass at her, Alicia flees. She’s rescued by Gregg, a doctor. When Gregg is later assaulted by a mental patient, Alicia intervenes because she loves him. Gregg says he’s a psychiatrist, and ascertains that Alicia was assaulted by a surly hobo when she was a child. Now that she knows the truth, “you’ll never be afraid of a man again!” Gregg and Alicia will marry.

Title: Love Takes a Nose-Dive!

Characters: Joyce; Wade Manning; Arthur; Eve Saunders

Synopsis: Joyce leaves her job as a waitress and becomes an airline hostess, dumping her boyfriend Arthur, a short-order cook. Joyce dates pilot Wade, but catches him romancing Eve, the daughter of the owner of the airline. Wade, drunk, takes off with Joyce on board and Arthur as one of the passengers. Arthur, an aerial gunner during the war, manages to land the plane safely. Joyce decides he's the man for her.
