Synopsis: Secretary Lila travels to Mexico with her boss Tom, and her cousin Ann contrives to go along as their chaperone because she's romantically interested in Tom. Ann drops Tom when she meets Hal, but Hal can’t return to the USA for a month. Back home, Ann takes up with Tom again, then rejects him when Hal arrives. But now she realises it’s Tom she loves. It’s too late: Tom will marry Lila.

Synopsis: 1942: Anne is trapped in Java when the Japanese invade. She escapes in the company of wanted smuggler Bill. They take refuge on an island and Bill risks his life to save an American task force from the Japanese. Bill and Ann are separated when the Americans arrive. After the war, Ann returns to Java and finds Bill, now a decorated Navy officer.

Synopsis: Dick and Ellen tell Judge Cameron they want a separation. After Dick’s father dies, his mother moves in with the couple. Ellen feels Mrs. Blair is trying to take over the house, and Dick believes she is making his mother feel unwanted. Judge Cameron says perhaps Mrs. Blair can go into “an institution for the aged,” but Dick and Ellen don’t want that. They realise Dick’s mother needs to feel wanted and was only trying to help. Dick and Ellen reconcile and Dick’s mother will continue to have a home with them.
