At dawn, Adam leads an army against the aliens, but they use their vacuumizers to turn the army into gas. When Adam materializes on Earth, he has nine days to form a plan. Returning to Rann, Adam finds Ranagar gone, but the Ranagarians restored. Realizing the vaccumizers only affect one element at a time, Adam has the Ranagarians cover themselves in several different metals so they can get close enough to the aliens to defeat them in hand-to-hand combat.
