Title: Lure of Latin Love

Characters: Laura Matthews; Philip Lawton; André Leblanc; Lucienne Rouart

Synopsis: Laura wins a scholarship to study acting at the Sorbonne in Paris, so she turns down Phil’s offer of marriage and life on “a large scientific farm” he’ll manage. Laura stays in Paris but has to sing in a café while trying to get an acting job. Actor-director André romances her and gives her the lead in his new play. Phil arrives but steps aside because he thinks Laura loves André. On the night of the premiere, a fire breaks out in the theatre: André proves he’s a coward but Phil rescues Laura and she realises she loves him.

Title: Road to Disaster

Characters: Stella Martin; Mrs. Martin; Don Simpson; Mrs. Marietti; Steve Hegen

Synopsis: Stella is the confidential secretary to lawyer Don who prefers to help people rather than make a lot of money. They fall in love but Stella says he can’t support them both. Don promises to earn more, but he continues to fight for the underdogs. Stella arranges for Don to defend racketeer Steve but Don refuses to take the case. They break up and Stella dates Steve. Steve proposes marriage but asks Stella first to plead with a witness against him in an upcoming case: Stella finds the man dead and is arrested for murder. Don proves Steve killed the witness himself and he and Stella reconcile.

Synopsis: College student Janet never takes anything seriously. After graduation she’s hired as a department store salesclerk and dedicates herself to her job. Her boss Johnny is romantically attracted to her but she is only interested in work and turns him down with a laugh. Janet is promoted but feels lonely; she realises she loves Johnny but now he laughs at her. At a company picnic, she’s trapped in a forest fire and Johnny rescues her. They admit their love for each other.

Synopsis: Socialite Linda’s sister Susan dates Jackie, middleweight boxing champion, but Linda steals him away just to prove she can. Dating Linda causes Jackie to skimp on training and he loses his title. Linda dumps him, then feels guilty: she buys his contract and decides to help him win the championship back, which he does. She decides to leave the country but Susan reunites Linda and Jackie, who are really in love.

Synopsis: As a child, Lainey breaks her leg in an accident and although it heals, she still cannot walk. She grows up confined to a wheelchair. Lainey and visiting safety engineer Kirk fall in love but her friend Liz says Lainey is not a fit mate for any man. Kirk is trapped in a mine accident and Lainey gets out of her wheelchair to rescue him. They are both saved and can now be together forever.
