STORY DETAILS
Characters: Josie; Melody; Valerie Smith; Alan M.; Alexander Cabot III; Alexandra Cabot; Doctor Klutz; Kloddly; Professor Lamebrane; un-named government agent; Sebastian
Synopsis: The Pussycats have a gig at the Milton Hotel to play at a private party for Professor Lamebrane, inventor of a secret formula for slow light. With Alex as their manager and Alan M. as their roadie, the girls set off in their van for the hotel. Wanting to get in on the action, Alexandra and Sebastian teleport to the hotel, where Alexandra uses her magic powers to switch the secret formula with one of the Pussycats' songs.
Pages: 23.000
Script: Frank Doyle
Pencils: Dan DeCarlo
Inks: Rudy Lapick
Letters: Bill Yoshida
Notes: Script identifiable as Doyle by his distinctive writing style (much sharper than the writer of the last few issues). This issue re-introduces Sebastian the cat, who had been absent for the last few issues. It also introduces several elements that would be used in the Hanna-Barbera cartoon (which premiered the following month): Alan M. traveling with the Pussycats, Alexandra scheming to join the group, and the group fighting mad scientists and world-domination plots. This was also the last new story for many years to feature Alexandra's magical powers, which were not used in the TV cartoon. Her powers were briefly re-introduced in the early '80s.
