Characters: Jonny Quest; Race Bannon; Dr. Benton Quest; Bandit; Lizard Men
Synopsis: Ships explode in the Sargasso Sea, struck by a mysterious ray. The government asks Dr. Quest and his team to investigate. Race and Jonny find adventure battling Lizard Men, who've been testing a laser to shoot down the first Man-in-the-Moon launch from Cape Canaveral.

Notes: This story is adapted from the pilot/first episode of the TV show. Hadji hasn't been introduced yet, so Jonny adventures with Race and Bandit. On the first page is J. Quest#1-649 which indicates that this was published in September 1964; Gary Watson reports purchasing his off the newsstand on October 5, 1964.
