Synopsis: A black man is talking with his dog in his cabin, telling the mongrel the full story of a man named Abraham Lincoln, from childhood until the outbreak of the Civil War, and asking the Lord to not let anything happen to Lincoln.

Characters: Union captain (death); three Union soldiers [aka the Three Musketeers] (one dies);

Synopsis: As Union forces go marching confidently out of Washington D.C., each soldier reminds himself that he has enlisted only for 3 months, and the war should be over within 60 days -- or so they think. The rebels have other ideas. Three Union soldiers become, in their minds, the Three Musketeers and vow to see the battle out together. Reality sets in once one of them falls; this will be a long war.
