Synopsis: Midge can’t stand to be separated from her new husband Gordon. He says “I want a wife—not a clinging vine! You’re smothering me—choking me!” and walks out. Midge is notified that Gordon was the victim of a hit-and-run accident. In the hospital, he apologises for being angry at her, and Midge vows to be “a wife in the true sense of the word!”

Synopsis: “Common-sense” Lois wants a husband who is “rich and reliable!” On a trip to Hawaii, she meets beachcomber Dan and they are attracted to each other, but she tells him “I’ve always been taught to hate shiftlessness---irresponsibility!” She urges him to get a job: “You’ve got to decide between me and your way of life! You can’t have both!” “You love only the dollar sign,” he replies, and they break up. Her father advises her to “follow your heart,” and Lois returns to Dan.

He confronts her about the stories and Sue admits she loves Alan. Bruce helps Sue and Alan get back together.
