STORY DETAILS
Synopsis: As Tracy closes in, Shaky deceives Vitamin Flintheart into helping. As part of his escape, Shaky starts a fire that rages out of control. Shaky is apparently killed in the fire but hides in a smoke stack. When he attempts to hide in a culvert, he is trapped by freezing water.

Page 8, panel 10: Gun outline removed but color hold shows shape of gun used to club Vitamin Flintheart Page 9, panel 12; Redrawn to show only head shot of Shaky. Original panel shows him tying a bag around Snowflake. Dialog is the same. Page 10, panel 3: "and we'll swing her out" deleted from word balloon Page 10, panel 5: Snowflake's outline is deleted from the panel Page 10, panel 6: Snowflake removed from panel; only water is showing. Page 15, panel 12: Burned body deleted from panel. Page 16, panel 1: Burning body removed from panel. Page 19, panel 1: Title panel changed to a descriptive caption. Page 19, panels 4, 5, 8: All are redrawn to remove Shaky and show his word balloons coming from a hole in the dock or from underneath. Dialogue is unchanged. Page 19, panel 10: Shaky's figure removed except for his hands. Page 20, panel 1: Redrawn to show water splashing on the dock. "I'm suffocating!" removed from balloon. Page 21, panel 1: Changed to descriptive caption. Page 21, panel 2: "In one convulsive thrust" removed from caption. Page 21, panel 5: Caption changed to: "At the Police Commissioner's office." Dialogue changed to: "Shaky was another of those guys who figured he'd get rich quick." Page 21, panel 6: Dialogue changed to: "Sure...and he found instead that crime doesn't pay!" These last two panels were changed to end the story instead of continuing into the next Dick Tracy story.
