Synopsis:
Each of the members shows up to the regularly scheduled meeting with the Pearl Harbor attack on their minds, and each of them (except the Spectre, because he is a ghost) has decided to join the military, but can't figure out a way to tell the others. Spectre vows to keep busy on the home front while the others go ahead and enlist.

Splash page MAY not be by Burnley (which seems to be a rendering of the attack on Pearl Harbor). There appears to be an illegible signature just below the propeller in blue area (maybe reads "ASCHE"), or it could be part of the name "Arizona", battleship sunk at Pearl.
Once again Sandman wears different costumes in the introduction and conclusion.

Synopsis:
Hawkman is assigned to the Interceptor Coast Command and attends flying school as Carter Hall. His girlfriend, Shiera, has joined the nurses and is heading out on a convoy to the Philippines. Suddenly, there is an enemy attack at the air base and Hall switches to Hawkman to help battle the enemy. After whipping them, the Feathered Fury learns that there may be an attack on the convoy Shiera left with, so he is sent out to make sure it arrives safely in the Philippines.

Synopsis:
Having proved to be able to fire artillery accurately, Wes Dodds is immediately dispatched to where the action is. Turned down for guard duty, he decides instead, as the Sandman, to keep watch for enemy movements. Finding a captured two-man sub in the harbor loaded with fuel and torpedoes, he discovers a fleet of Japanese carriers. He telegraphs the Japanese that a U.S. fleet is approaching and all of them scatter. He then boards one and destroys all the airplanes aboard.

Synopsis:
Al Pratt is assigned to the tank corps, and he passes all tests brilliantly, then asks for the most dangerous assignment available. He is told that the Japanese have broken through Allied lines at Kota Bharu, and he'll need to take his company forward to that position at the front. Finding his unit out maneuvered, Al changes to the Atom and uses brute strength to deal with the Japanese tanks and capture the enemy.

Just as Charles McNider tries to decide which unit of the armed forces he is going to join up with, and if they will accept a blind man, he gets a call that a Pacific research hospital has been bombed and Dr. Benson, one of McNider's friends, has been fatally wounded and asks McNider to come and take over his work. While on duty one evening, Hooty warns the doctor of approaching enemy planes, and he changes to the Man of Midnight and helps deal with averting the attack.

Synopsis:
A group of Army brass is arguing about the feats of the JSA members when the Navy shows up with Johnny, commending him as well. So they decide to bring together all eight members (plus Wonder Woman), and decide who did the best job. In the final analysis, they decide the JSA is doing TOO well in their jobs, showing up all of the other regular Army soldiers, Marines and sailors. So, it is decided that the JSA will become the Justice Battalion of America for the duration of the war. Dr. Fate recommends Wonder Woman for JSA membership, but it goes unacted on for this issue.
