Juan Giménez was an Argentine comic artist and illustrator best known for highly detailed science-fiction worlds filled with machines, architecture, and cinematic action. Born in Mendoza in 1943, he developed an early fascination with drawing and technology that later became a signature of his work. After studying Industrial Design at the National University of Cuyo, he built a professional career that moved between Argentina and Europe, working for major comics magazines and publishers and collaborating with writers including Ricardo Barreiro, Carlos Trillo, and Alejandro Jodorowsky. His stories often blend war, futurism, and tightly rendered mechanical detail, with series such as War III and The Metabarons helping cement his international reputation. Giménez spent much of his later life in Spain, continuing to work steadily while remaining closely identified with the Mendoza comics scene. Across his career he received major industry recognition, including the Yellow Kid award in Lucca (1990) and France’s Bulle d’Or (1994). He died in 2020 at age 76.
