Amazing Fantasy #15 Curator pedigree (Marvel, 1962) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white to white pages.
"And so a legend is born, and a new name is added to the roster of those who make the world of fantasy the most exciting realm of all!"
This purple passage was penned by Stan Lee to conclude the origin story of a new "long underwear character" he had cooked up with artist Steve Ditko -- namely, Spider-Man, who debuted in the newly-renamed
Amazing Fantasy
#15, one of the most important comic books ever published, and certainly the single most important character launch since the Golden Age. The condition on this copy, which hails from the respected Curator collection, is superb; there is some minor stress in small areas along the spine, but the color, pages, gloss and clean edges are all exceptional. The early publication date and the unforgiving color palette make
Amazing Fantasy
#15 notoriously difficult to acquire in high-grade. This copy ranks among the top 10 unrestored copies certified by CGC to date. Overstreet 2002 NM 9.4 value = $42,000.

The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white pages.
Spider-Man's first issue of his own title continues to be one of the most important books of the entire Silver Age. In addition to the second appearance of Spider-Man, this book is, of course, the first appearance of two other characters that would go on to harass Spidey for the next 30+ years: J. Jonah Jameson and the Chameleon. Only the minds of Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, and Stan Lee would be capable of launching the readers into the incredible world which Peter Parker inhabits. This is a rare opportunity to own one of the very nicest copies of this highly sought-after comic. You've never really seen a
Spidey
#1 until you've seen one in Near Mint condition with off-white pages. The cover inks are bright and deep, the spine is very tight and held together by two shiny staples that look brand new. Overstreet 2002 NM 9.4 value = $28,000.

Amazing Fantasy #15 (Marvel, 1962) CGC VF- 7.5 Cream to off-white pages.
It's ranked #1 in value among all Silver Age books, this presentation of Spider-Man's origin and first appearance. It hasn't always been thus. For years
Showcase
#4, now regarded as the book that launched the Silver Age, was ranked #1. Marvel's first serious foray came with
Fantastic Four
, but the first issue of that run has been overtaken and left in the wake of
Amazing Fantasy
#15. One of the few Marvel "premier" books of the early 1960s not drawn by Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko deservedly got the call and proceeded to create the classic Spider-Man look for the first three years of the title's run. This nice copy, while displaying enough minor stresses to keep it from challenging in the Near Mint range, still ranks within the top 15% of all copies of the landmark issue that CGC has graded to date. Overstreet 2002 VF 8.0 value = $13,200.

Showcase #4 (DC, 1956) CGC VF- 7.5 Off-white pages.
Generally regarded as inaugurating the Silver Age of comics, Carmine Infantino's splendid cover woke comicdom from the funk cloud it had been under after Dr. Frederic Wertham and other censors successfully lobbied against so many themes and publishers in the early 1950s. With this issue, the
Showcase
title became an instant force in driving the Silver Age, as such other favorites as Challengers of the Unknown, Green Lantern, and the Atom, followed in these pages before winning their own titled books, and Adam Strange made his first appearance before becoming the featured attraction of
Mystery in Space
. Quite a few copies of this issue have been certified by CGC, but only a few have graded out better than this one. If you could own only one book from the Silver Age, this would be the one. Overstreet 2002 VF 8.0 value = $12,500.

Seeing this fantastic comic will give any fan the feeling of going back in time to when this book was on the newsstand, fresh from the printers. No other copies have been graded higher by CGC. Harvey Hits #3 File Copy (Harvey, 1957) CGC NM 9.4 Cream to off-white pages.
This key issue is the very first comic devoted solely to Richie Rich. Starting originally as a backup character in Little Dot, it took him four years to get his own comic, and three more years after that until he starred in his own regularly published title. This particular copy was saved by the title's editor as part of his personal reference file, and we are pleased to offer a very small, select set of issues starring Richie Rich. The personal file copies of the editor have fresher paper than the other Harvey file copies that were stored in an unairconditioned warehouse. Richie Rich has not only grown to become an American icon, but, at one time, was featured on as many as 35 concurrently-published titles, more than any other comic character ever. According to the CGC census, this is the only and highest-graded copy, and it is quite possibly the best copy in existence. Much more important and difficult to find than Richie Rich #1, this copy will be a showpiece in the winning bidder's collection. Overstreet 2002 NM 9.4 value = $1,150.

This is one of the most difficult of all the early Silver Age keys to find in any grade, let alone beautiful condition like this one. The cover is one of the most famous images in all of comic book collecting and it has been consistently swiped over and over for the last 45 years. Overstreet 2002 VF 8.0 value = $3,000.

The Amazing Spider-Man #6 (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white pages.
This beautiful copy features the first appearance of one of Spider-Man's most interesting villains. The Lizard is an ironic nemesis for Spider-Man, as Dr. Curt Conner's angst at the ever-present possibility of his evil alter-ego surfacing to threaten his wife and son rivals that of Peter Parker's. The early issue of
The Amazing Spider-Man
by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko is considered by many to be unmatched. This is a great chance to own a sharp, bright copy of this classic Silver Age comic. Overstreet 2002 NM 9.4 value = $2,000.

This issue is a true Marvel milestone. It features the first appearance of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, who have been important to nearly every major Marvel title at some time or another. It is still a very undervalued key Marvel comic. Overstreet 2002 NM 9.4 value = $950.

Showcase #19 White Mountain pedigree (DC, 1959) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white pages.
Jet black cover inks and supple off-white pages immediately let you know that this isn't just any copy; no...this is the White Mountain, and it is definitely special. Though not technically perfect due to some slight edge wear, this copy is fresh and clean; it literally shimmers like a new book. To date, CGC has only graded one copy higher than this one, and it could be a very long time before that book comes to market. Gil Kane cover. Mike Sekowsky art. Little Dot #3 File Copy (Harvey, 1954) CGC NM 9.4 Cream to off-white pages.
This is the third appearance of both Little Dot and, more importantly, Richie Rich, who started out as a backup feature in
Little Dot
#1. Like many books aimed at younger children, this is very difficult to find in high grade. This particular copy was saved by the title's editor as part of his personal reference file, and we are pleased to offer a very small, select set of issues starring Richie Rich. The personal file comics of the editor have fresher paper than the other Harvey file comics that were stored in an unairconditioned warehouse. There is only one other copy graded 9.4, but the pages are not likely to be as nice as this superb copy. Overstreet 2002 NM 9.4 value = $375.

The Avengers #4 Circle 8 pedigree (Marvel, 1964) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white pages.
How revitalized Jack "King" Kirby must have felt with this issue heralding the first Silver Age appearance of the ultimate patriotic superhero he had created some 23 years previously. The cover, and especially Cap, literally exults in the event, which undoubtedly mirrored Kirby's feelings. This is one of the blockbusters of the Silver Age, a book that has risen dramatically in value over the years. It's conceivable that this issue will eventually eclipse issue #1 of the run in value. Fantastic Four #2 (Marvel, 1962) CGC VF- 7.5 Off-white pages.
The FF were still operating in street clothes in this action-packed second issue that introduced the villainous shape-shifting aliens known as the Skrulls. This was also the last issue to feature the 10-cent cover price. Produced by the powerhouse team of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, this is a crackerjack tale that helped cement the growing popularity of the "new" Marvel comics. This excellent copy features sharp, bright colors, and square corners, with some light wear at the spine and minor discoloration of the back cover being the only noticeable flaws. Zap Comix #0, File copy (Apex Novelties, 1967) CGC NM- 9.2 Cream to off-white pages.
Along with
Zap #1
, this is the most important underground comix ever published. The classic cover by Robert Crumb is one of his most reproduced images and widely recognized by the comics community and the public at large. All of the interior pages are by Crumb, as well as the back cover. For comic collectors, is a hoot! This copy is from the first printing of just 5,000 and is from the collection of Don Schenker of the Print Mint that was sold by Sotheby's in 1997. Although published shortly after Zap #1, it was actually drawn first and so was number zero. This is a very sharp NM- copy with only a couple of minor stresses. There is no up-to-date Price Guide for underground comix, but one is currently in the works. When published, it is certain to accelerate the market. A smart collector would be wise to pick up this significant and recognizable issue now. According to the CGC census, this is the second highest-graded copy.
