War Against Crime #10 Gaines File pedigree 8/11 (EC, 1949).
If you're an EC horror fanatic, here's a book you can't pass up. It's the first appearance of the Vault Keeper, and the first appearance of the Vault of Horror. Best of all, it's from the Gaines File pedigree collection. According to the latest CGC population report, only two copies in the world are nicer than this. The most minor abrasions at the top and bottom front spine are the only defects on this tight, flat book. Exceptional eye-appeal. CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages. Overstreet NM 9.4 value = $2,000.

Wally Wood - Original Art for "Clean Start" from Incredible Science Fiction #30 - Complete 8-Page Story (EC, 1955).
A classic and famous story by a gifted storyteller. Whether it's weird aliens or expertly drawn scenes from world history, Woody could do it all, as he proves in a mere eight pages. Drawn in a pleasing large format (the art measures approximately 15" x 20.5"), Wood's art really shines here. The pages are in very good condition, but there is evidence that some type corrections have been lost, leaving glue stains on the page. In most cases, these are fairly minor, but there is a rather prominent stain at the top of page 7, and an area at the bottom of the same page where some type has been lost. Most of the type is done on paste-ups, but the art is all original, with very little white-out and minimal blue pencil throughout. Only the first page is shown here. Mad #3 Gaines File pedigree 3/12 (EC, 1953).
One of the most trend-setting comics ever published,
MAD
has become a cultural icon. This is a beautiful example of the beginnings of MAD, before it went to magazine size. From the personal stash of
MAD's
publisher comes this copy, one of the nicest in existence according to CGC's current population report. A lovely copy that, except for a little tanning on the back cover, looks like it did when it came right off the presses. CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white to white pages. Overstreet 2001 NM 9.4 value = $900.

Vault of Horror #13 Gaines File pedigree 6/9 (EC, 1950).
Remember those comics that terrified you as a kid? This was one of them. Despite the issue number, this is the true second issue of this title (it was WAR AGAINST CRIME for the first 11 issues). It's also memorable for the infamous Morphine story contained within its pages. Additionally, this is one of the scarcest Gaines File pedigree books, as there were only nine copies of this issue in the collection, instead of the usual twelve. According to CGC's most recent census report, a finer copy of this desirable book may not exist. Virtually perfect, this book is a pleasure to look at. CGC NM/MT 9.8 Off-white to white pages. Overstreet 2001 NM 9.4 value = $1,015.

Johnny Craig - Original Cover Art for War Against Crime #9 (EC, 1949).
From the late, great Johnny Craig comes this excellent cover featuring action both in the ring and at ringside. "The Kid" goes for a knockout while the cops close in on two "muggs". A superb, large (approximately 15" x 22") example of a dynamic cover from this talented craftsman. There is no white-out in evidence on this page. The title, logo and text box are all stats, but the word balloons and all art are original. There are several small cocoa-colored stains at the bottom of the page, which do not affect the art at all. Also, there is a small 1/2" tear at the right edge which comes right to the black border of the art, but not inside it. A thrilling original for any collection. As an added bonus, we are also including a CGC VG 4.0 copy of the comic book.

Mad #10 Gaines File pedigree 3/12 (EC, 1954).
The #3 copy from the Gaines File pedigree, this is an outstanding example of this classic laffer. Only apparent problems are a small chip out of the top right corner, and a small color rub on the left edge of the cover, next to the "u" in "Jugular." CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages. Overstreet 2001 NM 9.4 value = $650.

Jack Davis - Original Art for "Undertaking Palor" from Tales From the Crypt #39 - Complete 8-Page Story (EC, 1953).
One of the leading lights from the classic EC stable, Jack Davis could always be counted on for a gripping yarn sure to shock, scare and terrify. This story goes above and beyond, as a group of boys find out the truth about a series of unexplained poisonings. The first page features a wonderful image of The Crypt-Keeper, surrounded by skulls, body parts, and an assortment of ghouls. The art is large-sized, measuring 15" x 22", with notations at the margins, none of which affect the art. There is evidence that several type corrections have fallen off, leaving small glue stains, but none of these are extensive enough to ruin the look of this classic story. The title logo on the first page is a stat, all else is original Davis. Only the first page is shown here. To see the complete story, please visit www.HeritageComics.com.

Mad Scatter/Lapel Pin (EC, 1957).
Mad
Magazine began offering five styles of jewelry manufactured by Astrahan of New York in June 1957, priced at $2 each or $3 for a pair of cuff links.
Mad
discontinued selling them by early 1958. Only 1,000 to 2,000 pieces were sold, according to the publisher, and all are excessively rare today with well under 100 pieces surviving. The lapel/scatter pins were described by
MAD
as follows: "Your good suit will look better with a 'What... Me Worry?' Kid lapel pin. It will look best with a lapel, but the pin will help. Or give it to your girl as a scatter pin. If you have no girl, scatter a few. You'll pin one!" Excellent condition. From the Grant Geissman collection.

An exceptional cover by two of the artists most associated with the Man of Steel. The fluoroscope reveals a "diabolical costume" with "weird powers" underneath Superman's familiar red and blue outfit...a costume Superman swears he knows nothing about! In excellent condition for its age, there are several spots of white-out and a light glue stain along the bottom of the image. Also, one of the word balloons shows some evidence of what could be rust stains. Title logo is a stat, as are the balloons, but all the rest of the art, which is standard size, 11.5" x 17.5", is original. This piece also comes with the original hand-colored color guide for this cover. An excellent piece from an increasingly hard-to-find era.
