Estaban Maroto - Original Painting "Conan the Barbarian" (1977).
Hugely popular artist, Estaban Maroto, presents this stunning, full color, image of Conan versus some predatory vampire demons, with the life of a lovely lady at stake. This stunning fantasy piece was painted on canvas by Maroto in the midst of the artist's "peak period," during which he created a number of wonderful masterpieces for Warren Publications and became highly esteemed for the uniqueness he brought to the genre. Originally published in 1977 as a poster, it later became the inside-front cover for
XOTICA, The Art of Esteban Maroto
(SQP,1995). Painted in rich hues of blue and green in ravishing oil color, Maroto brings his unique sense of style to this large, 17.5" x 22.5" painting, which has been professionally matted and framed. Lots of gorgeous color combinations and textures, lending a poster-like effect to the work. Signed by Estaban Maroto at the bottom right.

Neal Adams and Dick Giordano - Original Splash Page Art for Detective Comics #407, page 2 (DC, 1971).
Terrific splash page art penciled by luminary artist, Neal Adams, and inked by Dick Giordano. Shocking full page scene for the feature story, "Marriage: Impossible" as Batman unmasks Man-Bat before he can take his bride-to-be. Dynamic, and fluid in Adams' clear and realistic style, which has made his work some of the most sought after and collectible in the marketplace. The overall art size is 10.5" x 15.75" with a 10" x 15" image area. The art is clean and bright, with some pencil smudging along the left edge, but generally amazingly well-kept. A rare opportunity to acquire a sensational piece by a true comic master, whose work increases in value and demand year after year.

John Romita, Don Heck, and Mike Esposito - Original Title Splash for The Amazing Spider-Man #63 (Marvel, 1968).
Cloaked in shadows and pounded by sheets of rain, the Vulture perches on an outcropping, contemplating the death of a certain meddling Web-Slinger... Ruthless and ravenous, this bird of prey is ready to strike. This vivid image, while skillfully composed to invoke fear and dread, will more likely spawn electric thrills of recognition to a generation of readers for whom there was no greater pleasure on earth than a Lee/Romita
Spider-Man
comic book. The splash is the product of three talented artists, and while we do not know the exact nature of the Romita/Heck collaboration, we suspect that the main figure of the Vulture was penciled entirely by Romita, with Heck providing the background pencils, while Esposito (utilizing his Mickey Demeo pen-name) tied it all together with his strong, smooth inks. A stunning piece that any True Believer would be proud to own.

Frank Frazetta - Original Illustration, Rescue (undated).
Proving once again that less is more, master lineman, Frank Frazetta gives us this deceptively simple pen and ink illustration of a warrior defending his companion from a horrible fate. This choice rendering is loosely sketched with a line that is relaxed and flowing and also urgent and taut, perfectly capturing the intensity of the moment. The art size is 5.5" x 7.5" and is matted in cream colored matte. Signed by Frank Frazetta at the lower left.

Amazing Spider-Man #16 (Marvel, 1964) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages.
Stan Lee and Steve Ditko bring us a fun crossover cover with the original yellow-garbed Daredevil. Hero fights like this one with Daredevil versus Spidey are always fun, even if a goofy villain like the Ringmaster is the only reason behind it. This stunningly fresh comic is so nice you'd have to be
blind
not to notice the dazzling color and bright whites on this cover. There are virtually no visible defects on this comic; it seems only miniscule peripheral wear kept it from an even higher grade. Overstreet 2003 NM 9.4 value = $700.

Steve Ditko - Original Art for Showcase #73, page 14 (DC, 1968).
With a Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!, DC premieres a character with a different rhythm... yellow-skinned, red-furred anti-hero, The Creeper. Steve Ditko's baby boy, a.k.a. TV newsman Jack Ryder, debuted in this issue of
Showcase
#73 in 1968. That tryout won him his own title,
Beware the Creeper
, which ran for 6 issues in 1968-69. This early appearance of the infamous weirdo is extremely clean and well-kept, with some slight aging apparent and some blue line editorial markings scattered randomly throughout. The overall art size is 10.5" x 16.25" with a 10" x 15" image area. There are four holes punched in all four corners, which were used to prepare the art for printing.

Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson - Original Cover Art for Action Comics #384 (DC, 1970).
This beautiful Superman cover from
Action Comics
#384 is drawn by super artist, Curt Swan and inked by Murphy Anderson. The Man of Steel is baffled when the Flouroscope reveals that he is wearing a "diabolical costume" beneath his Superman uniform. Swan is considered by many to be the quintessential Superman artist of the '60s and '70s, and this cover aptly demonstrates his talent at its peak. The overall art size is 11.5" x 17.5" with a 10" x 15" image area. The art is in great condition, with no heavy white-out corrections or other defects of note. There is a minor stain at the bottom left, some minimal staining around the word balloons, and some slight wear at the extreme bottom edge, but the image area is well preserved. Includes the original logo and indicia paste-ups, and the hand-colored color guide used by the printer.

Carmine Infantino - Original Art for Showcase #8, page 11 (DC, 1957).
From the earliest days of comics' Silver Age comes this stunning page from industry legend Carmine Infantino. This page is from the second appearance of Barry Allen, the Silver Age Flash, and shows him battling an unnamed mystery villain. This is certainly one of the earliest pieces of art from the Silver Age to survive until today, making it both historically important and exceptionally desirable. In excellent condition, the large art page measures approximately 14.25" x 22". The title bar at the top is an original stat, but everything else is art, with little to no evidence of white-out or blue-pencil.

Frank Frazetta - Original Sketches, Beauties and Beasts (undated).
Frank Frazetta's sketches are playgrounds for his fertile imagination, and whether he takes the idea to fruition, from thought to finished painting, it's interesting to see the process involved as he sorts through his imagination. This 8" x 10" page holds eight sketches, including a caveman, a tyrannosaurus rex, a nude woman, two lions and two face drawings of a beautiful young girl. Drawn in a relaxed, deceptively simple, fluid manner, Frazetta harnesses the vitality of his imagination and transfers it to the page without much thought. The art is in great condition, with some aging due to the inexpensive paper stock from Frazetta's sketchbook. Signed by Frank Frazetta.

Bob Budiansky and Joe Rubinstein - Original Cover Art for Ghost Rider #50 (Marvel, 1980).
This classic cover is a real treat as it features both the motorcycle riding Ghost Rider and the Ghost Rider from the old west! Budiansky and Rubinstein were a perfect complement to each other, as they both produced images that were strong in their use of dark lines and shadows. This explosive composition is best used by the comic book medium and is excellently demonstrated here. This artwork is in nice condition and includes the original title and word photostat paste-ups. Otherwise, there is a very little use of white out and only minor staining. This piece measures 11" x 17" with a 9.75" x 15" image area.
