Heritage to Offer Rare Martin Guitar!
Dallas, Texas: Heritage Galleries and Auctioneers (HGA) will offer an exceptional 1942 Martin 42D 00 Dreadnaught in their upcoming Music and Entertainment Memorabilia Sale, to be held September 23, 2004 in their Dallas offices.
"This is an exceedingly rare instrument," said David Tosh, HGA Cataloger. "The truth is, only six of these guitars were ever made. The guitar is in beautiful shape with only a minimal amount of wear, and is in perfect playing condition."
"This very collectible guitar was owned and played for many years by Milton Beasley, a Country and Western artist and recording star whose band, the Southern Serenaders, headed up the 'Farmer Jim' radio show in Jackson, Mississippi during the late 1940s and early 1950s," continued Tosh. "Among the guest stars on that show were none other than Country legend Hank Williams. In fact, Hank borrowed Milton's Martin guitar to play three songs later documented on the 1998 Mercury Records 10-disk 'Complete Hank Williams' box set - 'Lost Highway,' 'I'm a Long Gone Daddy', and 'Long Gone Lonesome Blues', which saw its debut on this program."
