Description

Chris Ware Quimby the Mouse Page Original Art (c. 1990). Art work by Chris Ware rarely comes to market, this is only the second Ware original Heritage has offered to date -- don't let it slip past your collection. Quimby resembles a distant cousin of Walt Disney's iconic Mickey Mouse, but instead of being a chipper mascot, he's a tiny, bleak figure traveling across a hostile world. The depressing subject matter is clothed in the peppy antics of primal cartooning, making the strong emotions that much more potent for being so surprising. With a very Raw influence, this page has all the hallmarks of an underground classic. This image area of this piece measures 7.5" x 12.5" and it has been matted and framed to an overall size of 16.5" x 20.5". The art, drawn in ink and red pencil with some Zipatone added, is in Excellent condition, with only very little use of white-out. Inscribed and signed by Ware in the lower border.
