ThunderCats Mumm-Ra Production Cel (Rankin-Bass, c. 1985-89). Certainly cackling with maniacal laughter, the depraved ThunderCats villain Mumm-Ra is looking downright devious in this original production cel. Following and improving upon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe's popular sci-fi/fantasy formula, this quintessential 1980s series was animated by Japanese studio Pacific Animation Corporation and co-produced by Rankin-Bass Animated Entertainment. Bound to godlike entities known as the Ancient Spirits of Evil in eternal servitude, the undead sorcerer Mumm-Ra is usually portrayed as a withered, corpse-like being. His cloaked figure measures large and centered at 5.5" x 6" on the 12 field cel, which bears a production code in the top right and has been placed on a print background for display purposes. An iconic animated 80s villain, this cel is a must-have for any fan of the classic series. With typical studio handling and edge wear including minor fading to the linework with areas of professional restoration and minor corner creasing, overall this vile villain is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
