Description
Thundercats "Exodus" Young Lion-O and Snarf Production Cel (Rankin/Bass, 1985). We have in this lot an incredibly rare hand-painted production cel from the pilot episode of the iconic '80s animated series Thundercats, featuring a fantastic image of a younger Lion-O and Snarf. The first season of the show was famously animated by the Japanese animation studio Topcraft, who previously collaborated with Ranking/Bass in producing their 1977 adaptation of The Hobbit and The Return of the King in 1980. Anime fans may recognize the studio's name as they also made the Hayao Miyazaki film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. This 12-field cel shows Lion-O holding Snarf, with the two characters sharing an image size of 9" x 7" as seen at the 11:24 mark of "Exodus." The lot is displayed on a printed background for presentation purposes, taped to it with archival artist tape. Presenting minor handling and edge wear from production, the lot is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
