Description

Dan DeCarlo and Rudy Lapick Wilbur #87 Story Page 6 Original Art (Archie Comics, 1959). Wilbur is an alternate-reality twist on Archie -- same publisher, shared talents, but significantly different. This comedy-of-errors sequence takes place at a party where some fool has spiked the punchbowl. But not with booze: The Comics Code's arbiters of taste would have nixed that. No, the prank involves a solution that causes everybody to belch bubbles. DeCarlo's grasp of physics may be lacking, but his sense of slapstick humor compensates admirably well. Wilbur was nearing the end of a long run by now. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 18". Moderate toning, commensurate with age. Excellent condition.
