TRON "Yori and Flynn on Solar Sailor" Ektachrome Continuous-Tone Transparency (Walt Disney, 1982). This rare Kodalith (often called an "Ektachrome" by TRON collectors) captures a tender exchange between Yori and Flynn from the 1982 landmark film. Yori, portrayed by Cindy Morgan of Caddyshack fame, is beautifully rendered, her sleek circuitry and futuristic attire set aglow by the Grid's neon ambience, while Jeff Bridges's Flynn leans in with quiet urgency. Enlarged from 65mm black-and-white fine-grain stage photography by DP Bruce Logan, the transparency embodies TRON's pioneering hybrid workflow: performers and sets were photographed in monochrome, the large positives were then placed on a light source and re-photographed through colored camera filters, and final frames were assembled one by one on the animation stand-an approach the Academy later honored with a Technical Achievement Award, fourteen years after release. Measuring 20" x 12" with a 19" x 8.5" image area, this production-borne artifact preserves a fleeting moment of intimacy amid the data-driven spectacle, affirming the film's belief that human connection can illuminate even the most synthetic world.
