Description

Harmonyland Original Oversized 40" x 27" Concept Art by Eddie Martinez for Landmark Entertainment Group (LEG, 1991). This rare oversized piece of concept art was created by Eddie Martinez for Harmonyland, the Sanrio outdoor theme park in Hiji, Oita prefecture, Japan. Rendered in gouache on a massive 40" x 27" board, the artwork depicts the park's grand entrance, brimming with color and whimsy in the dramatic, cinematic style Landmark Entertainment favored. Opened in April 1991, Harmonyland is one of only two Sanrio theme parks in Japan, developed in part by Landmark Entertainment Group, the Los Angeles-based design firm co-founded by Gary Goddard and Tony Christopher. Known for groundbreaking attractions such as Jurassic Park: The Ride and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Landmark brought their expertise to Sanrio's charming world, creating immersive environments, parades, and stage shows centered on beloved characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Cinnamoroll. Eddie Martinez, an American illustrator active in the 1980s and 1990s, produced richly detailed concept renderings that helped communicate Landmark's ambitious vision to clients and investors. His gouache illustrations emphasized scale, atmosphere, and emotional impact, perfectly suited to projects like Harmonyland. Impressive in both size and composition, this original artwork is a rare find for collectors of theme park memorabilia. In Very Good condition, with tape along the borders.
