Ross Andru and Others Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man Double Page Spread 11-12 Original Art (Marvel/DC, 1976). From the historic "Battle of the Century" billed as the "Greatest Superhero Team-Up of All Time!", comes this epic double-page spread from the first Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man treasury. The hype wasn't exaggeration: this colossal Bronze Age crossover marked the first true meeting between Marvel and DC's flagship heroes, a 100-page spectacle that set the standard for every intercompany event to follow, from X-Men/Teen Titans to Batman/Punisher. In this explosive scene, Spider-Man is hurled straight through a building solely by the shockwave of Superman's restrained punch, only to recover mid-air and swing back for his own hit in a brilliantly choreographed action sequence. The chapter marks their first clash as Superman and Spider-Man, following an earlier encounter between Clark Kent and Peter Parker. The issue credits only Ross Andru with pencils and Dick Giordano with inks. However, it is generally believed that others lent a hand, with Neal Adams refining Superman on some pages, John Romita doing the same for Spider-Man, and Terry Austin assisting on backgrounds. Ink over graphite on two Bristol boards with a combined image area of 19.5" x 12.25". Light toning, discolored production tape, blue marker editorial marks, whiteout corrections, stripped-in text correction held by tape on the back, light smudging, adhesive residue, light bend across Page 11, and handling wear.
