Universal Studios - The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man Attraction Original Concept/Pitch Art by Claudio Mazzoli for Landmark Entertainment (LEG, 1994). This original concept/pitch artwork by Claudio Mazzoli was created for Universal Studios' groundbreaking attraction The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Islands of Adventure in Orlando. Rendered in gouache on 29" x 22" illustration board, the piece depicts an action-packed moment as guests, riding in their "Scoop" vehicles, hurtle through Times Square. Above, the Hobgoblin menaces the crowd, hurling lightning bolts, while Spider-Man swings dramatically into the fray on his web. Landmark Entertainment Group, engaged by Universal Creative in the early 1990s, was the primary concept and attraction design company for Spider-Man. Landmark conceived the story, show design, guest flow, and integration of ride system, media, and practical sets-an unprecedented technical challenge at the time. They also developed the scripts, renderings, and synchronization of motion-based vehicles with stereoscopic 3-D film and live effects. The result was a thrilling fusion of dark ride, simulator, and comic book adventure. Opening in 1999, the attraction quickly earned critical acclaim, winning multiple awards including the Golden Ticket Award for Best Dark Ride for 12 consecutive years.
