Description

Dumbo Big Top Circus Clowns Concept Drawing Original Art (Walt Disney, 1941). This original concept drawing of circus clowns is from the 1941 Disney film Dumbo, and attributed to Joe Grant. It's masterfully illustrated in graphite and colored pencil and measures 11" x 7.5" on 12 field 5-peghole paper. It's a brilliant composition of the characters engaged in an astronomy gag with a telescope that also appears to serve a dual purpose as a large mallet. Created in the early stages of story development for this film, it is presumably one of many gags suggested for scenes in the circus big top. It's a remarkable composition and absolutely one-of-a-kind. With the war beginning and many of the animators signing up to serve, very little artwork of this quality from this feature exists today. The piece shows handling edge wear and has a staple in each corner. Condition is Very Good
