Description

Disneyland - Casey Jr. Circus Train Concept Drawing Original Art by Bruce Bushman (Walt Disney, c. 1950s). Artist and Imagineer Bruce Bushman (1911 - 1972), the son of Hollywood actor Francis X. Bushman, joined the staff at the Walt Disney Studios in the late 1930s. He worked as a layout artist on such films as Pinocchio, and was a sketch artist for the live-action film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. He was also instrumental in the designing of Disneyland. Here's a whimsical pair of his sketches for the Fantasyland attraction Casey Jr. Circus Train (from the 1941 animated feature Dumbo), in operation when the park opened in 1955 and still chugging along today. Both drawings are in color pencil on a single sheet of tan-colored paper; image sizes are approximately 11" x 7.5" for each. The art is matted with an opening of 23" x 18", and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 29.75" x 24.75". Very Good condition with minor handling and age-related paper toning.
From the Rummell Collection.
