Description

Bill Ward - Original Illustration of Blackhawk (1985). Best known for his effusive illustrations of buxom babes, few collectors realize that Bill Ward started his comics career at Fawcett doing backgrounds for Jack Binder. Ward moved to Quality, where he did a brief stint on Captain Marvel and, when Reed Crandall was drafted in 1943, Ward was assigned Blackhawk, a strip upon which he more than made his mark over the next several years. The piece offered here, rendered in watercolor, was done as a private commission in 1985. In excellent condition, the piece measures approximately 10" x 14" overall, and is signed by the artist.
