Description

Al Williamson The Space Pirate Illustration Original Art (c. 1960s). Science-fiction heroes and Space Opera fantasy were recurring subjects for the late, great Al Williamson. This piece is a wonderful rendition of a character most commonly known as The Space Pirate, and in his article, "The Quest for Al Williamson's Flash Gordon #1", comic art collector and historian Ray Cuthbert noted "These were done, along with several similar Flash Gordon pieces for sale to people who had always wanted a Williamson original, but couldn't find one, and were sold at New York conventions in the late 1960s." Rendered in watercolor and ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image size of 5.5" x 5.5". The slightly toned piece has light smudging and handling wear, and is in Excellent condition.
