"The Battle You Thought You'd Never See!" raved the publisher's blurb for this titanic teaming of DC's kingpin and queenpin characters. The World War II/Manhattan Project setting foreshadows such game-changing DC revisionist-crossovers of the 1980s (and beyond) as the 67-issue All-Star Squadron series. The present selection finds Superman and Wonder Woman in a peaceable state, poised to help the U.S. government to keep a cache of atomic weapons "out of Nazi hands." Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson (a real-world historical figure, accurately caricatured with his chronically hangdog expression) appears with the heroes. Axis menace Baron Blitzkrieg is pictured in Panel 2, along with a dwarf Nazi known as Zwerg. Ink over graphite on evenly toned Bristol board. Image area, 11.5" x 15.25". Unevenly trimmed at the edges, with one chipped marginal area (left-center) and six marginal patches of tape residue. Very Good condition.
