Plane Crazy Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing Original Art (Walt Disney, 1928-29). The Mickey Mouse short Plane Crazy was first shown as a silent film to a test audience on May 15, 1928. Walt Disney directed this short, and Ub Iwerks provided the animation. This short was also shown on the very first Disneyland show on television, in 1954. This ode to Lindbergh is considered a milestone in Disney Studio and Mickey Mouse history. This is a rare 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing, seen around the 4:00 mark into the short. As the plane is on the ground dodging street poles, cars, and a cow, with Mickey back at the wheel, it suddenly takes off in flight. This is an outstanding graphite drawing showing the heads of both Mickey and Minnie with a great image of the plane and propeller. Huge image, with a size of 12" x 6". The number 162 is written in the bottom right corner, and there is a blue stamp number on reverse of drawing. This historic piece of animation art history, from the hand of Mr. Ub Iwerks, is in a Plexiglas-front frame measuring 20" x 18" with a mat opening of 12" x 10". A screen grab print of this exact scene is included on back of the frame. Frame is sold as-is, artwork condition is Very Good.More information about Walt Disney Studios - Fab Five.
