Description

John Buscema Thor #197 Unused Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1972). It is unknown why this powerful image was not used as the cover, especially as it reflects panels from Page 16 inside this issue. The artwork seems to have made it through production to the point of being trade-dressed with a logo, issue number, and price. All that adds up to making this an unseen masterpiece from behind-the-scenes! Created in ink over graphite on World Color Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The header/logo is a paste-up stat. The lost story title "Asgard No More!" is a hand-lettered paste-up on Bristol board. There are some minor production stains in the top left and lower left corners, and some whiteout art clean-up/correction. In Very Good condition.
