Description

Superman #nn Bradman Birthday Custom Comic (DC, 1988) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white to white pages. Extremely limited distribution promotional issue. This comic was commissioned by English real estate tycoon Godfrey Bradman for approximately $18,000, to celebrate his son Daniel's 13th birthday (Bar Mitzvah) and was given out to his friends to mark the occasion. The comic was written by David Levin, drawn by Curt Swan, and inked by Angelo Torres. The comic features Godfrey's son Daniel and Andrew Hunt (Daniel's half-brother), and the rest of the family, in the "This Island Bradman" story. It seems that approximately 100 issues were printed, and a number of copies were kept by DC and distributed internally. A CGC 9.6 copy sold for $2,125 in March, 2015; a CGC 9.4 copy for $1,511 in January, 2015; and a CGC 9.6 copy for $1,314.50 in August, 2015. Please note that the art for the cover and all but one page of the interior art for this DC/Superman rarity were sold by Heritage, in Spring of 2013, for just under $5,000! Overstreet lists the comic but does not offer a Guide value. CGC census 5/22: 6 in 9.2, 19 higher.
