Description
Marshall Rogers Batman Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-4-89 (DC/Creators Syndicate, 1989). Riding the wave of popularity from the 1989 Batman film, Marshall Rogers' iteration of the Batman newspaper strip was launched, loosely echoing the movie's plotlines while introducing several notable deviations. Here, Batman defends a young boy from Catwoman, with both characters appearing in their classic comic book costumes rather than the designs popularized on the big screen. While the date "5-1" is printed in the top margin, we believe this piece was published on 12-4-89, as noted next to the copyright paste-up between the two panels. Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 3.5". Lightly toned, with stat paste-ups used for text, corner creasing, and light handling wear. Signed and dated by Marshall Rogers and in Very Good condition.Auction Info
