Bernie Wrightson Swamp Thing #2 Story Page 20 Original Art (DC, 1972). This grisly page captures Alec Holland in a moment of brutal clarity, strangling one of Anton Arcane's grotesque Un-Men, twisted reflections of Arcane's warped ambition. Offered humanity in exchange for the Swamp Thing's body, Holland ultimately refuses, realizing the terrible cost. In the final panel, a furious Arcane, now inhabiting Swamp Thing's form, screams in despair as the body slips from his grasp. Wrightson's inking brush is in full force here, shaping every sinewy figure and shadow-drenched corner with masterful detail, offering an early glimpse of the gothic brilliance he would soon bring to life in his legendary Frankenstein. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Moderate toning, discolored tape, tape residue on edges, faint scoring between gutters, production-trimmed edges, minor spot staining, and light handling wear.
