Joe Kubert Our Army at War #221 "Sgt. Rock" Cover Original Art (DC Comics, 1970). This period brought out a new ferocity in artist-editor Kubert, whose war-comics covers took on a heightened intensity in response to the arrival of upstart Neal Adams as a game-changing DC cover designer. Sgt. Rock has always been a hard-bitten sort, but here Kubert saddles him with a flakey backup gunner who seems due for a crack-up. The demonic figures might be imaginary -- but then again... Powerful stuff. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". Excellent condition, barring adhesive seams at paste-up logotypes and boilerplate.More information about Joe Kubert.
