Description

Frank Frazetta The Gods of Mars & The Warlord of Mars Interior Illustration Original Art (Nelson Doubleday, 1971). Frank Frazetta offers this fine and delicate composition wrought with fierce imagery for the third book in the Barsoom series which relates the adventures of John Carter on Mars. Frazetta is known for being the Godfather of Fantasy Art, and for portraying the female form in sensual and powerful ways, whether it's Dejah Thoris, the Martian maid Thuvia, or the vicious daughter of the High Priest of Issus. This piece isn't just exquisite -- it's alluring, bold, and rich with texture. Ink over graphite on thick illustration board with an image area of 11" x 13". The board has edge and corner wear, spots of soiling and smudging, and tape residue along the borders. The image area is sunstruck from a previous framing. In Very Good condition.
