Description

Frank Frazetta Jongor of Lost Land Cover Preliminary Original Art (Popular Library, 1970). Frank Frazetta left an indelible mark across various realms of the art world. The legendary creator began his career in comics, crafting stories for books and syndicated newspaper strips across the nation. Eventually, he transitioned into commercial and cover art, creating striking illustrations for mass-market paperback novels. It was in this arena that his imaginative flair truly flourished, producing scenes of fantasy and science fiction drawn from the depths of his creativity. The piece presented here offers a window into his artistic journey -- tracing the evolution from initial concept to final cover. Notice how the raw, energetic vision is refined into a dark, dynamic tableau of creatures enveloping the central figure. Watercolor over graphite on paper with an image size of approximately 4" x 6", professionally matted with a copy of the printed cover at 18" x 14.75". Slight toning, small tear on the right side edge, with light handling wear. Signed by Frazetta in the bottom right image area, and in Very Good condition.
