Description
X-Men: The Animated Series "Nightcrawler" Nightcrawler Original Production Cel (Marvel Productions, 1995). "Our ability to understand God's purpose is limited, but we take comfort in the fact that his love is limitless." In this hand-painted cel is a wonderfully thoughtful moment between Wolverine and Nightcrawler as they discuss the contradictions of God's plan. Wolverine has lived a lifetime of pain and suffering only to conclude that there can be no God if there is so much evil in the world, but Nightcrawler insists that even darkness cannot exist without the light which is proof that God's love and forgiveness is real. Originally aired on 5/13/1995 as Episode 18 of Season 3, the episode sees Wolverine and the popular mutant couple Rogue and Gambit on holiday when it gets interrupted by a hostile community tricked into destroying a kind-hearted monk who is demonic looking since he was born a mutant. The story editor, Eric Lewald liked this episode best because he felt that the religious themes made the episode weightier then the network usually allowed. This production cel is highly coveted not only because this was the debut episode for Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler) , but this year marks the 30th Anniversary for the episode. Actor Adrian Hough, who provided his voice for Nightcrawler for this series and the sequel series X-Men '97, also played Jean Grey's father in the X-Men: The Last Stand film. This spiritually charged moment can be seen at the 13:46 timestamp of the episode as Wolverine and Nightcrawler debate the purpose for having faith. This rare moment of Nightcrawler out of his red and black outfit measure at 5.25" x 5.5" and is displayed over a scene matching print background for presentation purposes. The overall condition is Very Good to with minor handling and edge wear.Auction Info
