Description

John Byrne Fantastic Four #255 Splash Page 1 Daredevil Original Art (Marvel, 1983). You would be hard-pressed to find another twice-up scale splash page of Daredevil by John Byrne. And that's for two reasons... first, Daredevil is one of the relatively few Marvel characters that Byrne did not draw often (as he was not a star in any of the titles for which Byrne was the regular artist); and by this day, it was very uncommon for artists to work at twice-up scale -- John Byrne drew this entire issue of FF at that scale.
Byrne's tenure on Fantastic Four is considered by many fans only second to the Lee/Kirby years, so any pages from this run are highly treasured by his fans. This opening title/splash page features Marvel's Man Without Fear in the big, bold settings Byrne so loved, and used in the same way that Kirby did, making his cityscapes seem large and real.
Created in ink and markers over graphite on Marvel Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 17". Signed in the lower image area. There is a bit of paste-up residue in the top margin, and a bit of whiteout in the lower caption box. In Excellent condition.
