Description

Irv Novick and Frank McLaughlin Flash #268 Complete 17-Page Story "Riddle of the Runaway Comic" Original Art (DC, 1978). A story hinging on Golden Age comic collecting that is one of the most memorable Flash stories of the 1970s. No doubt the Flash Comics #26 pictured here was the first Golden Age comic most of the issue's young readers had ever seen, and the comic convention shown might have been the first one kids had ever heard of. In this meta-fiction by Cary Bates (of course), the Flash of Earth-1 is literally chasing down a copy of the very-real Flash Comics #26 which stars the Flash of Earth-2. We even get a glimpse of Barry Allen's bookcase-filling Golden Age collection. The pages were created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The top caption and indicia on Page 1 are stat paste-ups. The rest of the pages have some minor text paste-up corrections and a bit of whiteout art clean-up. Lightly toned and in Very Good condition.
From the Irv Novick Family Collection.
