Description

Captain America Comics #4 (Timely, 1941) CGC NM- 9.2 Cream to off-white pages. Alex Schomburg took a two-year hiatus from drawing Captain America covers after providing this issue's intense cover. The interior art is primarily by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, who also contribute a Captain America and Bucky pin-up on the back cover. These early Caps are notoriously tough to find in high grade, but this copy is a beauty, exhibiting sharp edges, bright colors, and fairly sharp corners. Not only is his little stunner the nicest copy of this issue we've ever seen -- and the only one graded above VF+ -- it's also the highest-graded copy certified by CGC to date. Overstreet 2012 NM- 9.2 value = $18,500. CGC census 7/12: 1 in 9.2, none higher. From the Empire Comics Collection.
