Peter Pan John and Michael Darling Animation Drawings - Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1953). "Now everybody try. One, Two, Three!" Capture that smile in your heart and fly with the Darling brothers, in this group of outstanding animation roughs from the 1953 Disney classic Peter Pan. This remarkable film was part of the production history of the Disney studio's last film in which all the members of Walt's Nine Old Men worked together as directing animators. Supervising the animation of John and Michael were two of Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men" and Disney Legend inductees, Milt Kahl (1909-1987) and Ward Kimball (1914-2002). Two of these drawings, noted C37 and 99, are from the same sequence when Peter helps the three Darling kids take off for the first time at about 14:11 timestamp, which goes poorly without the use of Pixie Dust. Then the final third piece, oriented in a unique profile instead of landscape layout, is Michael slowly floating down into Wendy's arms after she was saved from the Lost Boys attack, at about 30:24 timestamp, noted as frame 229. From head to toe each of the three graphite and color pencil drawings measures about 2.5" to 4" on 16 field sheets of animation paper. Overall, these pieces have light age-toning, production handling and edgewear, and mild to moderate surface wrinkling. The drawing marked 99 has had its peg hole edge ripped off, a creased upper right corner, and has over a dozen pinholes surrounding the drawing by about an inch or more. Michael's drawing, 229, also has a middle peg hole support from production. This lot ranges from Good to Very Good condition.Auction Info
