Description

John Stanley The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #35 "Little Lulu" Cover Original Art (Gemstone, 2005). A rare tender moment between Lulu and Tubby is about to be spoiled by the fellers, in this wonderfully whimsical cover illustration by John Stanley. Stanley remains one of America's most beloved comic book artists and writers, particularly for his long run with Marge's Little Lulu in the 1940s and '50s. Robert Crumb is a devoted fan who drew great inspiration from Stanley for his own work in the early days of Zap Comix. The mixed media painting on illustration board has an image area of approximately 11" x 15.25", and an overall size of 15" x 20". There's some rubber cement stains in the outer border area from an old mat, but the art itself is in Excellent condition. A tearsheet of the printed cover accompanies the art.
