Description

Lou Fine Hit Comics #6 Cover Original Art (Quality, 1940). Very few Lou Fine covers are known to exist, and we have not offered one since 2008. This one features a full figure of the Red Bee fending off some fierce fencers. Lou Fine's prolific output in the Golden Age allowed him to work on a wide range of characters including almost every character that would eventually be a member of DC's Freedom Fighters... Black Condor, the Ray, Uncle Sam, and Doll Man, and he was one of the ghost artists on The Spirit while Will Eisner was in the service. Fine was famed for his flowing linework. This incredible cover is a nice twice-up scale piece covered in his deft graphite and ink on 14" x 20" Bristol board. It has a taped-on printed logo placement that flips up. The work has been restored and reconditioned, including corner replacements, a hole in the top right filled, pinholes, and a fold mended in the top right. The backside has a bubbly texture in a few places. Overall in Very Good condition with the restoration.
