Todd McFarlane The Amazing Spider-Man #320 Mary Jane Story Page 9 Original Art (Marvel, 1989). Marvel's most riveting redhead (apologies to Black Widow) makes a strong case for the return of '80s spandex in this standout Spidey page by Todd McFarlane. His signature style is all over this one -- from the instantly recognizable crouched pose in the first panel he would go on to immortalize in his Spider-Man #1 cover, to his bold, stylized takes on Peter Parker and Mary Jane, with their uniquely McFarlane features and fashion.On the page, Spidey's chasing down a gang of high-society caterers with a suspicious side hustle, only to discover they're delivering guns with the caviar. As a bonus, the script name-drops two late-'80s celebrities still making headlines today: a certain Donald Trump in the second panel, and award-winning actress turned fitness icon Jane Fonda in the last.
Rendered in ink and marker over blue pencil on Marvel Comics Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15.25". The board is lightly toned, with whiteout touch-ups, stat paste-ups used for the guest list text in the second panel and the page number, adhesive staining, marginal tape and pinholes, small stains, and corner creasing/handling wear, including a crease in the top left corner. A few paste-up text sections are also missing from the second panel (including the event date, "Wednesday, May 24", and several names to the left of Spidey's thumb). Signed in the lower margin by writer David Michelinie and artist Todd McFarlane. In Very Good condition.
