Description

Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg Sandman #1 Story Page 27 Original Art (DC, 1989). Sandman redefined what comics could be, blending myth, history, and deep character work. Gaiman's storytelling raised the bar, making it clear comics were a medium for more than just superheroes, opening the doors for complex, mature narratives. Its success changed the landscape, inspiring creators to push beyond traditional boundaries and redefine storytelling. On this pivotal page, the binding circle trapping Morpheus for 75 years is broken, allowing him to begin his escape from the Order of the Ancient Mysteries by entering his captors' dreams in a scene that was adapted for the critically-acclaimed Sandman Netflix Series. Skillfully detailed in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 11.75" x 18". Signed by Kieth in the lower margin. Stat art paste-ups in Panels 4, and 6-8. Stat text paste-up in Panel 4, stripped-in text correction in Panel 1, blue pencil editorial marks, editorial notes in the margins, corner bumps, and light handling wear. In Excellent condition.
