Description

John Byrne and Karl Kesel Superman #7 Splash Page 9 - Rampage First Appearance Original Art (DC, 1987). Rampage (Kitty Faulkner) makes her first-ever appearance on this striking splash page from John Byrne's iconic Superman run! Following an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs, scientist Kitty Faulkner undergoes a dramatic transformation into the metahuman who would later take the name Rampage.
This richly detailed page captures the moment she emerges from the wreckage, shedding her human self and reawakening as a confused, disgruntled, and terrified powerhouse of incredible strength. Superman looks on, stunned by her sudden appearance, as Byrne masterfully employs forced perspective to make the Man of Steel appear diminutive -- further emphasizing Rampage's towering stature. Masterfully rendered in ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board with a 10" x 15" image area; glass-front framed to 14.25" x 19.75". Light toning, an irregularly trimmed top edge, whiteout corrections, a page number paste-up, and small stains, including one within the image area. Fittingly, John Byrne signed and personalized this piece to a woman named "Kitty" in the upper right. In Very Good condition.
