Description

Jack Kirby and John Verpoorten Marvel Double Feature #19 Captain America Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1976). "From this moment on... Captain America lives no more!" A poignant moment as Steve Rogers seemingly quits being the Sentinel of Liberty! Cap walks away with images of his past framing his departure, including shots of the Red Skull, Bucky, and Agent 13 (Sharon Carter). What makes this piece even more desirable is that it is signed by Captain America creators Joe Simon and Jack Kirby! A powerful cover created by Kirby in ink over graphite on cover stock Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Slight toning, stat logo/header and text paste-ups, "A.I.M." in the lower right image area is a taped paste-up, the "From this moment on..." and "A Time To Die!" paste-ups are modern low-res re-creations added after the fact, staple holes and abrasions in the margins, marginal notes, whiteout corrections, with light staining and creasing/handling wear. Signed by Simon and Kirby in the bottom margin. In Very Good condition.
