Description

Ross Andru, Frank Giacoia, and Dave Hunt The Amazing Spider-Man #129 Punisher First Appearance Issue Story Page 18 Original Art (Marvel, 1974). "He's different! He's deadly! He's -- The Punisher!" This epic page is only the third Heritage has ever offered from the fantastic first appearance of the Punisher... and only the second that actually features the deadly vigilante! (And this page is the best by far!) Not only are the Punisher and Spider-Man in every panel, but we get an action-packed, opening half-page splash panel that shows a bouncing and bounding Spidey land the finishing blow on the antihero. The web-slinger does let the Punisher go when he realizes he was set up by the Jackal... but he will see him again real soon (in Issue #134).
Though the Punisher didn't spark an instant fan frenzy, he continued to appear throughout the Marvel catalog, including multiple two-issue arcs in The Amazing Spider-Man, an appearance in Giant-Size Spider-Man #4, and solo stories in Marvel Preview #2 and Marvel Super Action #1. The character's popularity continued to grow with more Spidey team-ups and key appearances in Captain America and Daredevil before he got his own limited series, which quickly led into a long-running regular series and numerous spin-offs. The Punisher has been a fan-favorite ever since!
Andru is credited with pencils and Giacoia and Hunt with inks. The art is ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15", matted to 15.5" x 20.5". Toning, tape adhesive and pinholes in the margins, blue pencil editorial marks and whiteout corrections, stripped-in and text paste-up corrections in Panel 4 held by tape on the front and back, taped paste-ups in the bottom margin, with soiling/staining and handling wear. In Very Good condition.
